Sugar skulls are often used to decorate the gravestones of the deceased.  Authentic sugar skulls were made out of clay molded sugar, decorated with feathers, colored beads, foiled and icing. The name of a deceased loved one would often be written on the skull's forehead and then placed on the altar.

Become a PINATA PRO!  Every child will receive a "make your own pinata kit" and be guided through the making of the structure and decoration.  Makers will be able to take their pinatas home with them!

The objective of the workshop is to get a deeper understanding of what death or Miquiztli represented for various indigenous peoples of Mesa america (Mexico and Central America). You will analyze Nahuatl (“Aztec”) terms and precolonia books (codices) to interpret the ancestral meaning of “death”.

Meet at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church right after Sunday mass at 1pm and join the procession to Pacoima City Hall!

The flame represents eternal life, and often certain scents are used to lure the dead. Painting, glittering and decorating prayer candles is a tradition and we invite you to join us in making your own!

Learn how to make your own headpiece. If you decide to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos by dressing up, you’re going to need a floral crown to finish your look. It’s an essential part of any Dia De Los Muertos outfit.
